Disney’s Artemis Fowl | Official Trailer

Remember the name. It’s Fowl. #ArtemisFowl.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl,” based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

“Artemis Fowl” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel, Adrian Scarborough and Miranda Raison, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a. and Judy Hofflund, p.g.a. are producing with Angus More Gordon and Matthew Jenkins serving as executive producers. Conor McPherson and Hamish McColl wrote the screenplay.

Disney’s “Artemis Fowl” opens in U.S. theaters on May 29, 2020.

Books: Artemis is a villain and slowly over the books become more human, connecting with others and even giving up his wealth and power for others. Going so far as to even give up many of his criminal acts.

Wrong things in the movie:

1. Why did artemis's father know everything about the fairies, artemis was the one who discovered them.
2. There was no purpose of holly going to the oak tree, they didn't even mention the reason.
3. Why did artemis trust holly?! She was his prisoner!
4. Artemis with a gun???! NOPE!
5. On the first scene that the fairies showed the time-stop, everything litterly stopped, so why when they tried it on artemis's house, he didn't stop?
6. (Supposed to be the first) Artemis is a cold and calculated 12 year old but on the movie he was just an ordinary kid.
7. Mulch diggums is a giant dwarf. What??
8. What the hell is the aculous????????
9. Where is the gold in this story?
10. Why Artemis's mother is dead?
11. Who is holly short's father and why was he mentioned in the movie?
12. Root is a woman.
13. Butler's name was revealed right at the start!!
14. Why, why did butler didn't fight against the troll.
15. There isn't even a real villain in the movie because opal koboi wasn't an important character.
16. It looks like they didn't have time to show foaly, they just mentioned him.
17. Why didn't holly hate Artemis?
18. What about the bio-bomb??
19. What is Opal koboi doing in this film anyway??

Wait, I thought Butler was Eurasian and Holly brown.
And doest making root a female just kill the whole sexist views he and Holly were trying to combat useless?
And why the hell does Artemis go surfing, Butler has to force him to do exercise which he cheats on in the later books doesn't he?
You know, this isn't a terrible movie...

...as long as you call it something other than Artemis Fowl.

"I prefer scared to dead"
I can't believe they have the gall to use the line in a completely different context.
In the books Butler asks him what he wants to do with his hostage, Holly Short, and he says I prefer scared to dead, as in I don't want to kill her, just to keep her too scared to do anything.
In here he means I prefer being scared than dead, as in fear will keep me sharp.
Let's be honest; Artemis should have been left the way he is in the book covers: mysteriously hidden in the shadows.

By the way, I'm sure the non-existent, fictional Butler is turning in his non-existent grave.
By the way (once again), did Hagrid just lose his way and enter another universe?
Step down Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl has taken the crown for worst children's book adaptation.

Just tried to watch the movie and when they showed a kid surfing and called him Artemis, I was out. I should've expected such incompetence when Disney declared rights to this. I've watched better fanmade trailers 10 years ago and they can't hold a candle to a school project. Do us all a favor and don't make a sequel.
Change the title from 'Artemis Fowl' to 'Adventures Of Orion'.

Bobzilla TheKilla:
I've got a theory why the plot and direction of this movie tanked so horribly:
-The directer never actually read any of the books, prolly just had someone on their staff give them a summary of what each of them do by memory and they just crammed it in to meet the 90 minute mark.
- The person reciting all this from memory hadn't read any of the books in over 10 years.
- The people behind the writing had no idea who they wanted to appeal to, and tried some jank hybrid of appealing to both the book readers and the completely uninformed audience.
- and lastly, they let a kid choose all decisions on plot development, because they couldn't think of anything themselves and decided, "This'll be a great way for us to gauge our younger viewers"
S G:
Well, that's disappointing. They changed the whole plot. Disappointing.

I haven't read Artemis Fowl in like 3 or 4 years, so I was pretty hazy on the plot. That being said, I could immediately tell that something wasn't just off, it was a completely different story.

I have even read the books and I can say that this movie is a disgrace.
How did they mess the story up that badly? Artemis is a genius kid who kidnaps Holly and holds her for ransom. Not some kid that got thrusted into a new world with everyone supporting him in a "save my dad" quest.
I watched the trailer, and I realized, this is only Artemis Fowl in name, not in content.

Ugh, they totally messed up Artemis' character. He's a cold, calculating, manipulative, evil mastermind who acts like a 20-year-old stuck in a 12-year-olds body. Now he's a helpless welp who needs to be shown the supposed secrets of his family? Original Artemis already knew all those secrets and he was the one who discovered the fairy world all on his own. Why have you nerfed him so?
I would like to speak to the crackheads who thought that this would be a good idea.
After watching Artemis Fowl, I’m not as excited for the Percy Jackson Disney+ series...

What a disrespect to Eoin Colfer and his series. So sad that Hollywood continues to destroy my childhood. This two minute trailer felt like watching the entirety of Eragon after reading the books. Painful.
Wyatt Smith
Wyatt Smith:
You know, Disney, a lot of these mistakes *could* have been forgivable, but the cardinal sin here is casting Artemis as a wide-eyed and surprised child. The fantasy of Artemis Fowl is, first and foremost, a savagely intelligent kid outsmarting the adults who underestimate him, wrapped up in sci-fi-high-fantasy-espionage. You've utterly decimated that cornerstone and, unfortunately, nothing else really matters with that damage done.

Has Disney even read the book?
He’s called Butler-first name unknown
The story starts with Artemis and butler getting “The book”
Artemis is NOT ATHLETIC he is claimed to be one of the least athletic people in the world but.
His mother is alive but goes crazy when her husband goes missing

And last the entire foul family is based on being criminals and Artemis wants to take over one day,

P.s. o yeah Artemis doesn’t find out about his father being kidnapped by the RUSSIAN MAFIA until book 2 or 3 (I can’t remember that well) and he has lost a leg when he gets back.

P.p.s. I hope they redo this movie and read the book first.
"I'd prefer scared to dead."

Now there's your problem. The original Artemis would rather be dead than scared.

Anyone know where I can find a trailer for a movie based on Artemis fowl
I saw this movie and got super excited cos I remember reading artemis fowl as a child and loving the crap out of it. Watched it and then began doubting my younger self's reading choices. Then remembered a specific plot point from all those years ago and realized this movie isn't even close to the book and after checking the comments I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed. Also as a random tidbit, if someone 'good' at chess loses in 5 moves then they're not good at all. It doesn't matter how great your opponent is, you really shouldn't be losing in 5 moves. But tbf, movies always make this kinda mistake
