NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition Review: Gaming, Thermals, Noise, & Power Benchmarks

Our review of the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition video card comes out after the AMD RX 6800, 6800 XT, and NVIDIA RTX 3070 (among others). Gaming benchmarks, noise, power, & more.

GN is working with Eden Reforestation Projects once again to plant 10 trees per GN store item sold until December 18, 2020. This applies to multi-item orders (as a multiplier) and to back ordered items. Our review of the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti GPU is now live, in the form of the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition. We have cards in from EVGA, ASUS, and other partners, but due to tight timelines for end of year content, we're not sure when or if we'll get to all of them. We have a number of RX 6800 GPUs that we're interested in reviewing first. Either way, today, we need to test the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti. Our benchmarks include some light thermal testing with auto VBIOS settings on the FE card, overclocking, gaming tests for "standard" graphics, hybrid rendering and ray tracing performance, power consumption testing, and more. We kept this review much simpler than some of our other video card reviews recently, but it still covers just about everything. If you're curious about Smart Access Memory performance on the AMD cards, check out our RX 6800 XT review.

This card theoretically goes up on retailers tomorrow, 12/2. ERRATA: Chart at 23:19 has a typo in it. The 3070 outperforms the 3060 Ti, obviously. Sorry about that typo. That's it for now! We'll work on the 6900XT soon enough. Sleep for now.
Out of stock before I finished thinking "wait, the 3060Ti exists?"

3060 is probably the year you'll be able to actually buy one, too.

It’s understandable the cards being scarce. Mithrill is a hard substance to work with in modern GPUs.
"400$ video card" As of 1hr after release is now an 750-800$ video card because of scalpers.
"On the market." That's a bit optimistic even for tech Jesus.
Steve and GN team, just wanted to say thanks for including RT performance and not completely focusing on it or brushing it off. It's easier for a viewer to ignore data that doesn't interest them than it is for someone to have to search down other reviews to find missing data they are interested in. I understand it is more work for you guys though so thanks again, appreciate the effort.
I guess this chunk of air from Nvidia competed with this gust of wind from AMD. Interesting...

This year wasnt filled with paper launches it was filled with youtube launches.
I appreciate the fact that you guys factor DLSS into the benchmarks. Makes no sense when reviewers keep it off to have a 'fair' comparison since it's absolutely a perk of modern nvidia cards.
Nvidia should do a launch where gpu's like this cost 900 dollars and 3 months later drop them to 400 to burn all the scalpers lol
I've been on a waiting list for this card for the last month

Please add Metro: Exodus and CoD MW for the ray tracing performance tests as they are both popular games and AMD cards perform well on them.

after my calculation, we need around 1 Billion more different GPUs so that everyone can buy one, assuming Nvidia make 8 cards each, which i higly doubt.
(same for AMD)
Without even watching the review, my guess is it's going to be like 5% less powerful than the 3070 that just came out, and like $50 less or something.

Here's the thing tho. You can sell a used 20 series card for damn near as much as this costs. 50 dollars for a new GPU is an impassable deal. Especially when said gpu is as great as the 3060ti.
Yay another card that I won’t actually ever see in stock.

I feel the need to upgrade from my 2060 super due to moving up from 1440p mostly, I want to start having the highest quality in 1440p so possibly a 3070?
tl;dr: ok if budget is $400
I was looking for a 1080p/RT/60fps card, and it seems a perfect choice. also, solid for 1440p in raster render. wish there would be some solid stocks, too :(

All this review told me is that my 2080 super needs to go in the bin for 4K 😂
Something that I really miss from these GPU reviews is pairing the cards with different CPUs, to check how much bottlenecking we can expect from lower end CPU, and at what point it this doesn't happen anymore.

Finally, a worthy successor to my aging GTX 1060. I wish I could consider the inevitable 6700XT, but I need CUDA for work.
Given the new console specs this'll probably be the target GPU for at least the next 3 years.
