Pearl Jam - Jeremy (uncensored version)

Official video for ‘Jeremy’ by Pearl Jam REMASTERED IN HD! Don't see the video in HD? Here are instructions on how to update video quality settings on YouTube: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/91449

Originally released in 1992, the Jeremy video brought attention to gun violence, teen suicide, and violence in schools. The original uncensored video, previously unreleased, is being shown here for essentially the first time. The themes of Jeremy highlighted by Pearl Jam in 1991, have sadly only become more relevant in the intervening 30 years as gun deaths continue to increase.

Pearl Jam continues its activism to reduce gun violence. You can support their efforts through re-released Choices merchandise and by donating to VitalogyFoundation:

all those people who say that “school is the best time of your life!” Um, no it’s not. Never did I feel so restricted and restrained and powerless as while I was in school as a kid. How many Jeremy’s are there that “spoke in class today” that we don’t hear about because they just couldn’t handle it anymore and no one wanted to listen to “just some kid having a bad time”. It’s a sobering thought.

i never realized the reason he says “try to forget this” and “try to erase this” is because in the actual school where jeremy died, you’re not allowed to talk about him there.

My Father grew up with Jeremy. They went trick or treating together, church together and would have playdates together. My father said Jeremy was a little bit different from the other kids in the sense that he didn't really hang out with them as much but, my dad said he was extremely good at drawing and was a good person. They never expected this would happen.

After 27 yrs of silence, Jeremy Delle's mother broke it in 2018.
"That day that he died did not define his life," she said.
"He was a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, a grandson. He was a friend. He was talented." Delle was a budding artist prior to his passing. “He won first prize at the Texas State Fair,” Crane said. “He won best of shows, and this was all before he was 12 years old.”

I'm a teacher and I really love this song. Whenever I have troubling students, I always think of Jeremy.
We can learn from his story.
Out of all the crap he had to go through, the straw that broke the camels back was his teacher asking him to get a slip. I always remember that and I always give the kids a break. We dont know what's going on at home, so we should give them a break. School is not supposed to be a prison.

Frozen Meat Stick:
[Verse 1]
At home drawin' pictures of mountain tops
With him on top, lemon yellow sun
Arms raised in a "V"
And the dead lay in pools of maroon below

[Pre-Chorus]
Daddy didn't give attention
Oh, to the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked
Oh, ruled his world

[Chorus]
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today

[Verse 2]
Clearly, I remember picking on the boy
Seemed a harmless little fuck
Ooh, but we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget? And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurting, ooh, dropped wide open
Just like the day, oh, like the day I heard

[Pre-Chorus]
Daddy didn't give affection, no
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked
Oh, ruled his world

[Chorus]
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today

[Bridge]
Try to forget this (Try to forget this)
Try to erase this (Try to erase this)
From the blackboard

[Chorus]
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in class today
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in
Jeremy spoke in class today

[Outro]
(Spoke in, spoke in)
(Spoke in, Spoke in, spoke in, spoke in...)
(Spoke in, spoke in)
Ooh oh, oh, oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Ooh oh, oh (Spoke in...)

"It came from a small paragraph in a paper which means you kill yourself and you make a big old sacrifice and try to get your revenge. That all you’re gonna end up with is a paragraph in a newspaper. Sixty-three degrees and cloudy in a suburban neighborhood. That’s the beginning of the video and that’s the same thing is that in the end, it does nothing… nothing changes. The world goes on and you’re gone. The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself. Be stronger than those people. And then you can come back."

Thank you posting this emotional, powerful, and brilliant music video, and what a great performance by the young Trevor Wilson (rest in peace).

I wanna say something. I was Jeremy. I had the same thoughts and nearly did the same thing as Jeremy when I was in high school. No one ever talked to me and I hated myself so much that I cant possibly put it into words. I would sit alone and be ignored or passive aggressively bullied. I thought I was some sort of weirdo or burden on society. I still feel that way sometimes. I just want to say to the "jeremys" out there in high school that we still care. I still care. I love you and know exactly what you're feeling, because I was you. I do care and want you to make it through this. Please just fight this if you can. I know it's hard. Just know that I am with you and I am on your side. It's not easy, but surviving is worth it.

RIP Jeremy and all the others who lost their battle. We will remember you and we miss you.

Since people are saying the don't know the back story of this song here it is

On January 8, 1991, Jeremy Delle, a 15-year-old sophomore, died by suicide with a Smith & Wesson model 19-4 .357 magnum revolver in front of his second-period English class. Delle was described by peers as "real quiet" and known for "acting sad". Delle was tardy that morning, and after going to his second-period class he was told to get an admittance slip from the school office for arriving late. Delle left the classroom, but instead of going to the school office he went to his locker where he had the revolver concealed, and returned to the classroom with it in his possession. Delle walked to the front of the classroom, and announced "Miss, I got what I really went for", he then put the barrel of the firearm in his mouth, and pulled the trigger before his teacher or classmates could react. Lisa Moore, a schoolmate, knew Jeremy from the in-school suspension program: "He and I would pass notes back and forth and he would talk about life and stuff", she said. "He signed all of his notes, "Write back." But on Monday January. 7th he wrote, "Later days." I didn't know what to make of it. But I never thought this would happen."  The incident inspired the Pearl jam song "Jeremy". The band's lead singer, Eddie Vedder, read a newspaper account of the incident and was moved to write the song almost immediately
