Difficult for me to hear this. It was playing the last time I saw my older brother as he walked out of our shared bedroom to leave for Vietnam. He'd just been drafted at 18 and didn't want to go. I offered him all my pocket money (a pathetic $11!) to run away but he felt he'd be letting the family down. I was so angry I didn't say goodbye and sulked in our bedroom for days. When Mom told me he'd died (about 2 months later at Khe Sahn), I just broke. I was never angry at you Bro, I was just too immature to tell you how much I worshipped and loved you.

it would be a half-century before they developed a taste for Arson, Street-Defecation and Marxism...
Communism has snuck in the back door, under the hippie guise of "Social Progress™".....
Now they call themselves "Progressives™, Social Democrats, etc".....
But I've never seen amerika SO uncool: censored, scolded, undermined, divided, Godless, politically dogmatic, humorless, self-righteous (and this is the LEFT I'm talking about!)... full of toxic anti-white race-hatred and POC-Supremacy, "Cancelled", Silenced, Shamed....The Music is awful, degenerate and Dark™; the "kids" a confused mess of ignorance, entitlement, corruption and dysfunction....What's strange is seeing the WWII people vindicated and the Hippies so thoroughly incriminated

I’m 71 years old and this song takes me back to my late teens when I remember actually wearing flowers in my hair. Just been shielding from covid-19 for almost four months. Back then I would never have imagined what is going on in the world today. Any young folks reading this, please try to just get on with your life peacefully, and be happy, because time goes by so quickly and you can never get it back. God bless you all 🥰

Beautiful song but I don’t think there’s too many people going to San Francisco nowadays! If anything I think there’s fixing to be an exodus from San Francisco in the coming years.

The generation that had the guts to occupy the streets and fight for civil rights, peace and freedom. Todays generation is just the opposite with their heads in their mobile phones and dragging the world into a racist, fascist and war mongering, globalist, imperilaist and extreme barbarian capitalist society, I wont be surprised if they'd simply agree and even be happy if they'd get implanted by chips within 15-20 years from now.

You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation
Such a strange vibration

Here we are in 2020, its like your on a train you can see all the years moveing in front of you, up until now the train was a good place to be, you kind of knew where you where going, but now this big block and the train cant move, 2020 is not letting the train move, but the one thing we can do is go back to the songs we love and for a while just smile and be happy again, 2020 will pass and the train will move again. Stay safe for now.

Sadness and nostalgia come to my mind when I listen to this love and peace anthem, its slow and mournful tempo transports me to simpler times, when love and peace seemed to steer all the music and artistic movements back then, and captured the spirit of the times, along with the Fifth Dimension, The Mamas & the Papas, Grace Slick & Jefferson Airplane, they dimensioned and defined the best decade I ever lived in my whole life.
The videos' imagery and lyrics are haunting only for those who lived those times, for the rest is just another song posted.
For the young generations of today, make the most of every experience life offers you because time goes by so quickly, live to the most everyday.

I recently visited it with my girlfriend and yes, she wore flowers in her hair.

I am 62 so was a child in the 'flower power' era, and I love playing this song on my guitar. On these beautiful summer evenings i have been taking my guitar to the beach where I live, (South England) and my neighbours' granddaughters, aged 6 and 4, love hearing me play and sing. The six-year-old says:- ''Please play San Francisco, Debbie, I LOVE that song!'' -and she sings along with me!

My troop ship sailed from Oakland out under the Golden Gae Bridge in February 1967. Scott McKenzie's song was on the air and in my head for the next year. Every time I heard it in Vietnam I got homesick. It will always be my personal favorite of an eventful time in my life and for our country.

you see all these pictures? I lived it in San Francisco in the 1960's. I was not a hippie though. my dad was a police officer during those turbulent days, with the SLA, Jim Jones and the people's temple, Black Panthers, Manson, Zodiac, Zebra killers, bombings, beatniks, Hell's Angels, city gangs, etc. west coast California dreaming, hot weather, beach, Girls, drag racing, malt shops, drive-in's, the Beach Boys, rolling stones, doors, Jimi Hendrix, turtles, rascals, chamber brothers, etc. Joints were 50 cents, and lids were 10 bucks. you could walk anywhere in the city, and a stranger would share a joint with you. we had a music explosion in the 1960's. I would say the best times growing up were the 1950's and 1960's hands down. I have seen so much of life and people and times. what's sad is looking back and my parents are gone, and I lost many friends. I survived the times and the Vietnam war also. I thank God that i'am still here and strong. former U.S. marine 0311.
